Join us for a special day-long event featuring numerous CLE options sponsored by each MBA Section, including the 12th Annual Hon. Toby L. Dickman Family Law Seminar and the culmination of our year-long Trial Advocacy Series. Other topics include: Special Needs Trusts, PA Medical Marijuana, Immigration and more.

In the afternoon, stop into the Delaware Valley Legal Expo, held in the Grand Ballroom from 1 - 5 PM, immediately followed by a cocktail reception and prize announcements in the Centennial Ballroom from 5 - 6 PM. The Legal Expo offers opportunities to explore trends, devise solutions, connect with colleagues, and win dozens of great prizes!

Informed Choices 2019 - Why Judicial Recommendations Matter

This year, 6 candidates are running for Judge of the Court of Common Pleas in Montgomery County and 7 sitting Judges are on the ballot for retention. In order to educate county voters about the importance of judicial review and recommendations, the MBA recently launched a campaign entitled Informed Choices 2019. Voters are encouraged to visit the Informed Choices website, which includes the recommendations of the MBA's autonomous Judiciary Committee along with information about why and how the recommendations are made.

The Nominating Committee will meet on Monday, November 11, 2019 to review and endorse applications for the positions indicated as follows:

- 6 Candidates for positions on the Judiciary Committee

- 5 Candidates for positions on the Board of Directors

- Candidates for Elected Officer Positions (Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President)

Interested individuals must complete the required questionnaires which may be obtained by clicking on the links below or by calling Megan Ware at 610-279-9660, Ext. 200.

The completed questionnaires must be returned to the MBA, Attn: Megan Ware, no later than October 30, 2019. Please attach a current copy of your CV to the questionnaire.

Special Pro Bono Month CLE/CJE This Wednesday: Challenges of Reentry - Simulation & Discussion

Understanding that the best way to support members’ efforts to give back is to provide the tools to maximize those efforts, The MBA Pro Bono Committee is proud to sponsor a special Pro Bono Month CJE/CLE on Wednesday, October 23rd from 2 to 4 PM, with refreshments immediately following.  This unique event will bring together MCCP Judges, Magisterial District Judges, and other MBA members for a simulation exercise demonstrating the complex challenges of reentry individuals, followed by inspiring and challenging small-group discussions.  This workshop will provide an opportunity to explore a crucial access to justice issue in a way that honors the true meaning of Pro Bono Month.  SPACE IS LIMITED - Click on the button below to register!

Also in honor of Pro Bono Month, the Pro Bono Committee will be sponsoring its second annual “Thanks a Latte” Bar throughout the morning of Wednesday, October 23rd. All MBA members are invited to stop by the Bar Building for some caffeinated support and a sweet treat.  While here, please take a moment to learn about all the exciting and meaningful ways you can share your talents to serve the most vulnerable members of our community throughout the year.  In honor of this important month, all members are encouraged to commit to one shift, one event, one program, or even one hour for the betterment of our community (For example: Consider registering to volunteer with our EPIC program HERE!)

Montgomery Bar Foundation Seeks Applicants for Board of Trustees and Nominations for Hon. Milton O. Moss and Hon. Louis D. Stefan Awards

The Montgomery Bar Foundation (MBF) is the face of the Montgomery County legal community to charitable organizations throughout the county. We are the Bar's most visible manifestation of supporting our community by promoting access to justice. The Foundation's Trustees fulfill the crucial function of managing this legacy and ensuring funding to support those organizations in Montgomery County that promote access to justice.

This year, the MBF will nominate three (3) candidates for the positions on the Board of Trustees. These positions are three year terms, commencing January 2020. You do not need to be a lawyer to serve on the MBF Board of Trustees.

Additionally, the MBF is accepting nominations for The Honorable Milton O. Moss Public Service Award and The Honorable Louis D. Stefan Law Enforcement Award.

The Moss Award is bestowed annually upon a resident of, or organization within, Montgomery County who has rendered distinguished service in support of the justice system.

The Stefan Award is bestowed annually upon a law enforcement official in Montgomery County who exceeds the scope of his or her duties in promoting the rule of law and administration of justice.
