In 2017, Leadership Academy participants reviewed the MBA’s efforts and progress towards the development of a more diverse and inclusive association, and provided a list of recommendations to help build on these efforts.  These recommendations included the creation of the Hon. Horace A. Davenport Award, in honor of the first African-American judge to sit on the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas, who passed away in 2017.  The Davenport Award shall be given to:

" individual or organization who has facilitated diversity in the hiring, retention, and promotion of attorneys from diverse backgrounds and/ or in their recruitment and elevation to positions of leadership in the Montgomery Bar Association, or who has otherwise championed diversity within the Montgomery County legal community.”

The Montgomery Bar Association Diversity Committee is now accepting nominations for this prestigious award, which will be presented at the Annual Business Luncheon on January 10th. Please email your nomination, along with a brief explanation of how the individual or organization embodies the criteria for the award, to Nancy Walsh ( no later than this Friday, December 6th

The Young Lawyers Section will be hosting their annual Holiday Party on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, 5 - 7 PM, at Brittingham's Pub (640 E. Germantown Pike, Lafayette Hill, PA 19444). All members are welcome to enjoy FREE food and drinks.

All attendees are requested to bring a donation for the Young Lawyers Section Winter Charity Drive this year benefitting Manna on Main Street (details coming soon!).

We will also hold an awards presentation to honor area attorneys, members of law enforcement, and community leaders.
